This year Niš became the centre of women activism and art promotion for the fourth year in the row. FemiNiš 2013 was held from September 20th through 22nd and it offered the latest feminist driven topics from the region, encouraged women activist creativity through a series of workshops, incited new topics at the open discussion, promoted books and movies but also offered visitors a fun break with party and excellent concert of the women band from Zagreb “U pol’ 9 kod Sabe” with the final day being dedicated to yoga and other sports.

One of the main features of previous FemiNiš festivals was great interest with activist visitors from the region. This support was equally strong this year so we had over 60 feminist activists from all over Ex-Yu. Our joint heritage, similar activist background and present living and working conditions have opened many topics of discussion during feminist activities but also out side of these. All that contributed to make new friends and reconnect and deepen old ones with new actions planning.

Aside from regional guests this year FemiNiš was visited with a significant number of women from our city and southern Serbia who could have enjoyed events that are scarce or unavailable. With this we once again assert the idea of feminism decentralization on which FemiNiš organizers have been working hard during previous years.

City cultural and information institutions have again exercised their support to FemiNiš especially Student Cultural Centre and Media Centre Niš.

FemiNiš 2013 was organized by Women Space and Centre for Girls with support of Kvinna Till Kvinna, Reconstruction-Women’s Fund and Rosa Luxemburg Foundation for SEE.
